# Install the CLI

The CLI is a single Node package. It needs Node 20 or newer and nothing else: no agent, no daemon, no config file to hand edit.

> The published package is `kraftify-cli@0.0.0-preview`, live on the npm registry. The preview runs locally and provisions nothing. Its commands are `kraftify init` (install into an agent), `kraftify mcp` (the stdio server agents launch), `kraftify status`, `kraftify preview` (an offline walkthrough) and `kraftify uninstall`. The commands below describe the version that ships with the API.

## Run without installing

```
npx kraftify-cli@latest status
```

This is the right choice for a one-off or for CI, where writing to a global prefix is awkward.

## Install globally

```
npm install -g kraftify-cli
```

```
kraftify status
```

## Upgrade

The CLI checks for a newer version on `login` and once a day after that, and prints a one line notice. It never upgrades itself.

```
kraftify update
```

## Where the token lives

`kraftify login` writes a token to the OS keychain when one is available, and falls back to `~/.config/kraftify/credentials` with `0600` permissions. Delete that file to log out from the machine.

```
kraftify logout
```

> The token is a bearer credential. Anyone holding it can act as you, so treat it like an SSH key and do not paste it into a chat or a commit.
