# Bans and appeals

Accounts have a standing: active, suspended, terminated, or ended. Anything but active bounces every console route to the standing screen, which states the account, the reason, and exactly how long or that it never lifts.

## The four standings

| Standing | What it means | How it lifts |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Suspended | Locked out for a set day count | On its own at the date shown |
| Terminated | Locked out permanently | Only by a successful appeal |
| Ended | A demo that ran its course, not a violation | It does not. Ask for full access. |
| Active | Good standing | Already there |

Expired suspensions lift themselves: a suspension past its date counts as active even before anyone tidies the row. Ended demos show a blue screen that names no violation, because none happened, and carry no appeal button.

## Appeals

Suspended and terminated accounts appeal from the ban screen at [/appeal](/appeal), which exists only for banned accounts and 404s for everyone else. Say what was missed rather than that it feels unfair. Overturning lifts the ban and raises the welcome-back screen on the next visit; upholding keeps it.

Appeals do not pause bans, most bans stand, and there is no tracker. The reference id is the only receipt.

> Moderators suspend, terminate and judge. Owners do that and manage roles. Nobody touches their own account from inside the product.
